Join us at the Conrad School for engaging and informative roundtable discussions with founders from the Waterloo Region startup community.

 

Moving from table-to-table in three 20-minute sessions, attendees of this event will have the opportunity to hear from local entrepreneurs about leadership, sales, strategy, and product. Stay for networking and refreshments and get connected to our entrepreneurial community.

Founders Speaking

 

Marium Kirmani and Will Nippard, StarterHacks

Topic: Leadership

Marium and Will are Co-founders of StarterHacks, a tech non-profit focused on bringing more diversity to the industry by ensuring that the first experience students have in the space is as inclusive as possible. They co-created StarterHacks in 2017 with their beginner-focused hackathon reaching 250 students and have since scaled their flagship UW event to engage 1000 students this coming January.

In addition to StarterHacks they are heavily involved in the KW tech ecosystem, with Will working as Manager of Technology at HealthIM and Marium as Client Experience Coordinator at the Accelerator Centre. Both Marium (Health Informatics) and Will (Computer Science) received their Bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo.

Bjorn Dawson, Grobo

Topic: Sales

Grobo CEO and Co-founder Bjorn Dawson leads the company's efforts to transform how people grow plants, making it easy and accessible for everyone to have success. Today, many medical cannabis patients use Grobo to produce the highest quality medicine and improve their daily lives.

A leader in the local startup ecosystem, Bjorn is actively involved in mentoring other start-ups. Prior to Grobo, Bjorn co-founded multiple companies ranging from window washing services to real estate investments.

Bjorn received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo's Mechanical Engineering Program.

Uche Onura,  HITCH

Topic: Product and Strategy

Uche is the Co-founder of HITCH, a cloud platform that enables teachers to hand pick videos that are uploaded to their school’s HITCH Video Hotspot and made available to students for download. The HITCH solution was designed to deliver educational videos in emerging markets.

After receiving his Bachelor’s in Information Systems from Delaware State University, Uche obtained his Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) from the Conrad School, University of Waterloo.
