Event Details

Security in the Quantum Future

Quantum theory is quickly becoming quantum technology.

Quantum technologies will offer incredible advantages -- but, as with any new capability, we need to understand and mitigate new risks.

Quantum computers will break the cryptography that currently safeguards our cyber systems and digital economy.
Rebuilding these foundational pieces of our digital world is a profoundly challenging task.
If this challenge is embraced, society will greatly benefit from cyber systems that are not only designed to be resilient to quantum attacks, but they will also better detect and respond to threats not yet identified. Furthermore, quantum cryptography will offer safeguards impervious to quantum threats.

Other quantum advances, like quantum optimization and sensing, are expected to result in advances in cyber-defense and detection of dangerous substances.
Such advances, managed proactively with an eye to safety and security, promise tremendous benefits to society. The time is now to think about responsibly building the future.

Parking
Visitor parking is available in lot M for $6

*Ticket holders must be in their seats no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of the lecture. After this time, guests in the waiting line will be invited into the theatre to fill any empty seats.
