Women Entrepreneurship Week (WEW) Speakers Series hosted by the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business.

We’re celebrating WEW 2019 with stories from women entrepreneurs and their allies.

The Conrad School is hosting a lunch hour Speakers' Series as part of the annual Women Entrepreneurship Week 2019 global awareness and celebration. Please join us to network and hear 20-minute presentations covering entrepreneurship topics. Lunch will be provided.

Conrad School, Engineering 7 (E7), 2nd floor Hub/Lounge room


Join us for the lunch hour to network and hear mini-speakers' presentations (20min) on  any of the following dates and times:

Monday, Oct. 21st between 11:30am and 1:30pm
Thursday, Oct. 24th between 11:30am and 1:30pm
Friday, Oct. 25th between 12pm and 2pm

*when you register for your Ticket here, you will be prompted for your preferred day(s)


There are 2 lunch hour windows each day and invited speakers are scheduled at 12pm and 1pm separately, and you are welcome to attend one or both sessions.

Complimentary lunch will be provided, and please registration in advance for catering order purposes.

Day 1 - Monday, Oct. 21st, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
 

  • Welcome Greetings from Speaker Series Organizing Committee Lead – Jodi Szimanski
    Jodi is Director of Strategic Communications for the Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics, and a part-time student in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program.
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation: What is the impact of government policies and programs? - Margaret Dalziel
    Margaret Dalziel, PhD, is an Associate Professor with the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business and VP Research, The Evidence Network.
  • Entrepreneurship and Adventures with  My Startup: BeBlended - Aileen Agada
    Aileen is a Waterloo Environmental Engineering student who is currently working on her venture – BeBlended – with support from the Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) program at the Conrad School.


Day 2 - Thursday, Oct. 24th, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

  • Welcome Greetings from the HeForShe Program – Chris Bachmann
    Chris is an Assistant Professor with the Waterloo Faculty of Engineering and HeForShe Faculty Advocate.
  • Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation – Nada Basir
    Nada Basir, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business where she teaches strategy and social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility.
  • Entrepreneurship and Adventures in the Waterloo Startup Ecosystem – Camelia Nunez
    Camelia Nunez, MBET is Director Concept (Imagined by Velocity) and HeForShe Campus Advocate.
     

Day 3 - Friday, Oct. 25th, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

  • Welcome Greetings from Speaker Series Organizing Committee Members - Ajnadeen Al-Shawa and Jennifer Petricevic
    Ajnadeen and Jennifer are both full-time students in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET).
  • Entrepreneurship and Adventures with the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) Student Venture Fund (SVF) Program - Carolina Restrepo
    Carolina is a recent MBET graduate and Senior Partnership Manager at Tugolo. She was also a Senior Analyst with the SVF team in Spring 2019.
  • Entrepreneurship and Adventures with Starterhacks - Marium Kirmani
    Marium is a Waterloo Health Sciences graduate  and Co-founder and CEO at Starterhacks, Canada’s only hackathon for first time hackers with 50-50 gender split
