{ "name":"August 2022 Mathematics Capacity Building Circles Registration", "description": "https://ticketfi.com/event/4663/august-2022-mathematics-capacity-building-circles-registration\n\n\"Update\\n\\nWe have received feedback that the week of August 15th conflicted with planned vacation time for a number of faculty and staff, which was reflected in low registrations (too low to proceed). These sessions have been cancelled.\\n\\nThe session on August 22, 2022 will proceed as planned and has a few spaces still available.\\n\\nBackground Information\\n\\nThe Faculty of Mathematics will be hosting monthly small circle conversations to help faculty and staff build their capacity to support equity, diversity,  inclusion, and anti-racism (EDI-R) initiatives. For purposes of these circle conversations, we consider EDI-R discussions broadly and inclusive of current Waterloo priorities such as decolonization, and Indigenization.\\n\\nWith increasing awareness of EDI-R issues in the Faculty, Waterloo, our local community, and globally, there is recognition that Mathematics faculty and staff are being asked more frequently to examine how EDI-R considerations may relate to their specific roles. We recognize that our colleagues in the Faculty may be at different stages of their EDI-R journeys and could benefit from open and supportive spaces to explore what the next step of their journeys may look like.\\n\\nWhile there are many EDI-R training and development opportunities available at Waterloo, we have heard that some individuals may be reluctant to fully engage in training and conversations due to fear of not knowing the correct terminology or being judged for saying the “wrong” things. If you are starting your EDI-R journey or wish to explore new EDI-R topics – these circle conversations may be for you!\\n\\nTopic\\nThe topic for our August 2022 circle dialogues will be: The impact of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism initiatives on our students.\\n\\nSpecial Guest\\nJennifer Gillies (Associate Director, Accessability Services) will be joining for the August 22nd session open to Faculty and Staff.\\n\\nHow to Register\\n\\nThere are multiple circle conversations scheduled each month:\\n\\n\\n\\tOne exclusive to faculty members (F)\\n\\tOne exclustive to staff members (S)\\n\\tTwo sessions open to both faculty and staff members (FS)\\n\\nRemember that each session is limited to a maximum of ten (10) participants (including special guests).\\n\\nThe dates and times of each session are listed under "Tickets". Each session is 1.5 hours in length.\\n\\nTo register, "order" the ticket corresponding to the date and time you wish to attend and are open to your employee group. Please only register for one session per month.\\n\\n\\nImportant Notes: \\n\\n\\n\\tThese conversations are limited to Faculty of Mathematics faculty and staff (with some offerings being restricted to either Faculty or Staff). Offerings for students are anticipated to be offered at a later date.\\n\\tTickets for each session are only available until 1 business day before the scheduled discussion (to allow time to send the links along to participants).\\n\\n\"", "startDate":"2022-08-15", "endDate":"2022-08-22", "startTime":"11:30", "endTime":"09:30", "location":"", "label":"Add to Calendar", "options":[ "Apple", "Google", "iCal", "Microsoft365", "Outlook.com", "Yahoo" ], "timeZone":"US/Eastern", "trigger":"click", "inline":true, "listStyle":"modal", "iCalFileName":"invite.ics" }
